Is there a relationship between a person's racial type and their body type? Moreover, is there a relationship between a person's body type and their ability/inability to gain muscle mass?

It would be interesting to know when developing a weight lifting routine, so the type of exercise and, by extension, the gains a person makes is complimentary of their body structure.
