So how much modern people presents modern races how tall are they?
Nordid? Dinarid? Norid? Med? etc for example, my friend is heigher than his father (170) by 8 cm's! And his grandfather is only 165 cms! And he is not alpinid, he looks norid ![]() |

But of course, height is not everything, f.e. the Tollund man was a rather small, but still a quite typical Nordid otherwise, just of a different social-environmental and cosnstitutional form - with the consideration of individual variation as well.

I often see Italian tourists (northern Italian, I assume) in Moscow and they seem very tall to me. Many of them are about ~1.95. Are northern Italians as tall as, for example, Croats?
Oh well, maybe that's just my wrong impression, of course. |

I think that environment's influence works on longer term basis, whereas diet's influence works on shorter tems. Also, the effects from diet should be reversible in a a couple of generations, whereas the effects of environment not.
Yes, I think that it must be a wrong impression.

The so-called Dinarics are known to be particularly tall...I heard also about the Dutch being very tall... It must be some combination of genetics and environment...

Well I think that the original post is very interesting, I imagine that all Europid races are taller now than they used to be 80 years ago, maybe is due to better alimentation.
The original question asked by Ariets still remains unanswered, hopefully in the near future someone with some sort of idea will help us resolve it. In the case of Alpinids the average height has always been consider to be around 166 cm. Although I think that now a days the average height in male Alpinids may stand around 170 cm. |
