Soft Totalitarianism

As society in the modern West becomes more totalitarian, it will be even harder to make meaningful human connections and live a worthwhile life of the spirit. The trends of the age are against it. Modernity rejects the duality of existence: good/evil, right/wrong, male/female, black/white, etc. The egalitarian impulse seeks to eliminate difference, particularism, diversity. In short, it is at war with human nature, with Man himself. The goal of the modern project is the destruction of every form of tradition and community known to Western man. The ties that bind a man to God, a man to a woman, a man to his family, a man to his people, a man to his neighbour -- all of these must be destroyed. Total war has been declared on nature in her every manifestation. In the end there can be no shelter, no refuge, and we will lie exposed and alone beneath the searching lights.

Good. I see that you already understood, at such a young age, what "our" Modern World is all about.

Well, "unfortunately". But my answer is this: even if the world and its people should turn to some form of abstract barbarism, to some relativistic nihilism, to some half-conscious apedom again, I will set an example of virtue. May I in doing so serve as an example for others by striving to conserve and exact the elegance of times past and acquiring it for myself through learning. Albeit the modern inhumanity, I will still consider it as my holy duty to preserve meaning itself and provide a bulwark of integrity, kindness and nobility by aid of which new civilisations may yet arise again.

About my age: you don't have to worry about that. Maybe you will think me to be crazy - and I have been ridiculed about this- but as a poet I can let the gods speak through me- I can be considered as a true avatar of Odin who represents all of my peoples and who speaks through my being- and he is much wiser than I am by far...(and much older, too). ...aye, fore he knows all of his children well.

This modernity has to use lies to defend itself, because it does not stand on anything firm. If people were able to think more, they would eventually see the lies. But I hear a lot of people say that also true and false are imaginary values. What shall we make of that statement? Is it true or false? That's not consistent. Is it nonsense? Babble? Or the speech of someone possessed by demons?
