Recommend an artist

I am a big music fan like many other members of Stirpes.
I am always on the look out for new(or old) artists that might catch my attention.
I thought a recommendation thread would be useful here at Stirpes.
Just list an artist, give some details about what it sounds like and post some links or mp3s to hear.

A very recent and great indie band is WE ARE BALBOA.
