The photographer cites them as Chukchi herders. The one on the right is wearing a crescent moon and star symbol. The symbol is usually acquainted with Muslims. Do they look like Turks?

I was going to sat they were Chukcha, if not Evenkis.
As far as i remember, a recent genetic study showed that Chuckas and Japanese have some 'common' genes that other siberians and east/central asian don't share much. Did I understand it correct? It stroke me becuase I knew that chukchas didn't share much strong connection genetically with Yakuts, Tuvans, Evenks, Mongols or Buryats or westard central asians... |
