People of Spain: When my time has arrived in which I must report to the Highest and to appear before His unappealling judgement, I pray God that He takes me in benign before His presence, as I wanted to live and to die as a Catholic. On the name of Christ I take honour, and it has been my constant will to be a loyal son of the Church, in which bosom I am going to die. I ask all for forgival, just as I forgive with all my heart to all those who declared themselves my enemies, without I considering them as such. I believe and I wish that I did not have as such other enemies than the enemies who were of Spain, who I love until my last moment and who I promised to serve to the last breath of my life, that I know close.

I want to thank to those who have colaborated with enthusiasm, devotion and abnegation, in the grand enterprise of making a Spain united, great and free. For the love that I feel for our motherland I beg you to persevere in the unity and in the peace, and that you surrender the future King of Spain, don Juan Carlos de Borbón, of the same affection and loyalty which you have given to me, and that you give him, at all time, the same support and colaboration that I have had from you. Do not forget that the enemies of Spain and of the Christian Civilisation are alert. Keep watch you too and for it give up all personal interest before the supreme interests of the Spanish motherland and the people. Do not weaken in your quest to reach social justice and culture for all the men of Spain, and make of it your main goal. Keep the unity of the lands of Spain, exalting the rich variety of her regions as the source for the strenght of the unity of the motherland.

I would like, in my last moment, to unite the names of God and of Spain and to hug you all to cry together, for the last time, at the threshold of my death, ¡Arriba España! ¡Viva España!
