Look at Persian and English. Two Indo-European languages. Many similarities. Such as lip and lab, both means the same. For comprehensive lists: List of English words of Persian origin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia List of English words of Persian origin | Learn Persian online! | www.Learn-Persian.com Thats enough evidence to prove the whole Indo-European hypothesis having at least some truth to it. Not that I was trying to prove that, I was merely showing that all Indo-European languages have shared vocabulary, and it isnt so unique for Germanic languages. |

Modern English is a hodgepodge language. However, looking back through time at Old English (a Germanic language), one cannot see, in my opinion, any real Persian influence.

I didnt really mean that Persian has directly influenced English, except it has to some degree, but that wasnt my point. More like, theres a lot of similarities between the two, because they are both Indo-European languages. I'll post some links about that later.
