| Literature Literature is literally an acquaintance with letters. The term has, however, generally come to identify a collection of texts. The word literature, as a common noun, can refer to any form of writing, such as essays; while Literature, the proper noun, refers to a whole body of literary work. |

A superb children's author, if not the best! Her books are wonderful presents for young relatives whose intellectual and spiritual wellbeing you have an interest in. Far superior to the dross on offer in contemporary children's fiction.

Enid Blyton was one of my favourite authors as a child. I used to have many of her books, but some of the material would definitely be deemed inappropriate nowadays. In one story, Noddy's car was stolen by some golliwogs (!) In the more recent editions of Blyton's books, I think the golliwogs are replaced by goblins or gnomes.
