Question Finnic Substratum In Germanic Languages?

I read in several "papers" that finnish researcher Kalevi Wiik found that german languages had a strong finno-ugric substratum at that from there many dedeuced that skando-germans spoke a finno-ugric language before getting indo-europeanized.
I tried to serarch on the web further details but all I found abour Wiik's works were in finnish.

Whay are your opinions on this matter?

Thanks, very useful, as the author of the thread included his sources.

I do not believe that the Germanic languages have a Finno-Ugrian
stratum. see the Petri Kallio's thesis (find it via google).
I suppose that the Finnish language has an north asiatic origin.

But indeed the Germanic languages have a substratum. See on google:
drs Kroonen. He is writing a thesis about the non-indoeuropean elements
in the Germanic languages.
