This is from an American website.

I believe that we discussed before about these American Evangelicals. If I recall correctly, they even go as far as to claim that the Jews are still the Chosen People and that they must help the Jews to bring about the coming of the Messiah and fulfill their destiny as God's Chosen.
Or something along those lines. Well, as it is written it may sound many things included lunacy. However, isn't that what America has been doing ever since its inception? I even wonder if America has any other raison d'être.

Starting with the Puritans, predestinationism and chosenitism has been a constant of many of the pseudo-christian sects in America and other colonial outposts. In America it has the unique characteristic of being one of the milestones of the country.

Anyone who believes that the Jews are "The Chosen Ones" does not believe in the New Covenant established by Christ, which is a pre-requisite for being a Christian.
Ergo, these people cannot be Christians regardless of what they choose to call themselves.

It may be said that Old Testament Israelites WERE the Chosen People once, but ceased to be 2000 years ago. It is also doubtful, whether the Old Testament Israelites can be identified with present day Jews. But the fact that these Evangelicals are calling themselves "Christians" and others accepting this fraud, testifies to the fact that we are living in the age of the so-called glossocracy, in which mere words matter much more than the essence of things. A late offshot of the Medieval Nominalism? |

Christ has come to establish the New Covenant with the gentiles instead. This is the "Good News" of the New Testament. It is the basis of Christianity. On the other hand, the Jews are outcast. The Old Law is obsolete. The Old Covenant is gone. Entire passages of the NT refer to this and are understood as such by 2000 years of Christian tradition. Quote:

It certainly is no more meaningful than if the Dalai Lama tomorrow proclaimed himself to always have been a Dominican monk or for George Bush to say he is a devout Muslim.
