This is not surprising. Islamic Law is central to Islamic beliefs. Where Muslims accept to be ruled by civil laws is because they don't have the power to avoid it.
Now, in England they are starting to perceive that they already have the power to change it. Not because they are more but because they are more than enough in front of a weak people. Save a few vociferous BNP thugs more concerned with hooliganism at any football stadium. The infamy here is that the British imperialists will do anything in their power to drag the Welsh, Scotts and the Irish to their fate, instead of vanishing from the face of earth with some honour, at least in their last days. As a side note, Kaffir was a word officially adopted in the Afrikaans language to refer derogatively to Blacks.

Often, it enables them to practice their religion freely and without constraint, which is why many Muslims would emphatically prefer to live in Australia, for instance, instead of Iran.

While they are newly arrived to non Muslim countries they have more or less abode by the law of that country. As people get used to their presence and they grow in numbers and in confidence, they start rejecting the country's laws on the grounds that they can only abide to Islamic laws. There where people say that they are not a problem, it is because their numbers are still not significant enough for their confidence to grow above the rules that apply to all citizens. They do prefer to live in other countries but theirs, but they too prefer --or, rather, attempt to impose-- their ways to the host countries.

If those religious or cultural practices conflict with the nations laws, then the nations laws are supreme of course, such as with female genital mutilation. But not always. I also don't believe anybody (Muslim or not) should try to assimilate to the host nations "mainstream values" and sacrifice their identity in order to be accepted into that society and nation. Australia would be an incrediably boring place if every ethnic group lost their culture and language. |

The example is too small to cover all Muslim traditions. But walk around with a balaclava covering up your face in any town and see how long it takes for the police to stop you. Quote:

It is different in Europe. Here, the native identities (cultures, traditions, ethnicities) are being destroyed in the name of multiculturalism. Here, those identities are precious not to Europe itself but to the entire Mankind.
