However, on Turkish beaches I saw Turkish women as skimpily clad as their European counterparts. But it was long before the Islamist Erdogan took power. Maybe now the situation has changed, maybe not necessarily through laws, but through societal customs that changed. If something is frowned upon generally, even if there is no explicit law on it, most people will refrain from doing that, being conformists.

It depends from country to country, I suppose...

I have seen a Turkish girl here. She showed me pictures from Turkey and she was wearing an incredibly "immodest" bikini. It was crocheted. So I don't think things have changed too much..

Swimming in heavy clothing is difficult. I had to do it a few times when I was swimtraining several years ago.

Upper/Upper Middle class. Westernized. Largely unrelated to the average Turk.
