I'm 17 and currently live in Canada. My ancestry is overwhelmingly British Isles (English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, in order) with distant German. I'm quite keen on genealogy, and have my family tree, for both parents, traced to the 10th century. My other interests include history, politics, and football. I hope to become a productive member of the Stirpes community, and I'll talk to you all soon.

The Canadian Loyalists; staunch Monarchist/Imperialist here. I certainly have family from a side of the Northern Ireland conflict, and unlike them, I steer clear of it.

I support the Monarchy and the maintenance of the British Commonwealth. It is evident to me that such is an important part of the culture and history of both the United Kingdom and Canada. So, imperialist for lack of a better word...

The sad thing though is that the monarchy is now a hollow shell. People like us who come from a Monarchist/Unionist/Loyalist background have to realize that we're on our own now and we have to make new friends. "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold" as Yeats said. |

Welcome !
OK, but how would you define your nationalism then ? And also, how do you relate this to your support for the British Commonwealth ? |

Ethnic nationalism, that ethnicity being the various groups that constitute the population of Europe. My support of the British Commonwealth has as much of a cultural basis; my family has it's roots in the British Isles, I live in a Commonwealth nation, and I'm proud of both my ethnic and cultural identity.

Tabitha, I hope you don't think that just because Skadi is down you can get away with stating blatant facts like Scotland is not a Germanic country.
Take the Oath of Germanic Allegiance or else..... ![]()

The traditions of the Irish people are the oldest of any race in Europe north and west of the Alps, and they themselves are the longest settled on their own soil - Edmund Curtis (A History of Ireland: From Earliest Times to 1922) The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth. For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish. - Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596). I'm assuming you are claiming Scotland is "Germanic" based on the fact you can prove they were the majority. Then again, reality in any shape nor form was never known to come from Loyalism. Actually, that reminds me. With the 12th coming up, I traditionally post a certain piece of history that tends to make Orangemen squirm uncomfortably. I know how they so despise facts.... ![]()
