The Ikea phenomenon: alone in its uniqueness?

due to huge numbers immigrants however once a upon a time the Swedes had migrated to State so? If globalisation is considered as a new phenomena, I think its wrong………. Not sure when it started at least during the Romans I think.

Firstly, the Swedes, like many European immigrants to the Americas, quickly became self-supporting and soon after their arrival were contributing to the local economy and culture. I don’t think the same can be said of Europe’s current collection of asylum seekers.

Secondly, I am always amazed when Europeans use the New World as an example of a success story for mass immigration. You must realize that you Swedes are the Indians and they are the Cowboys; and we all know how that movie ends. Do you really want your great-grandchildren living on a reservation while someone in New Casablanca (formerly Stockholm) speaks proudly of being 1/8th Swedish? It is science fiction, but I think you get my point.

Having said this, you are right in that it is not a new phenomenon.

Still, I don't see how this changes things in the least. It is not a new phenomenon either that people oppose/fight off invasions and mass migration movements.

What it probably a new phenomenon is that a people is negated the right to oppose/fight off invasions or mass migrations and consequently their own survival.

As for when migrations started, it dates back to pre-historic times. Anihilation/vanishing of entire peoples dates back to pre-historic times along with migrations. E.g. the Neanderthals.

I do not compare anything, howerver immigrants are immirgrants no matter how many eras you might have passed there is no special name for it, anyway we Scandinavian are Smart compare to other Europeans.

There are some "special" (particular) names for some migratory movements within particular time periods or particular characteristics. E.g. the Völkerwanderungen or the invasions of the Mongols. Hardly important here, however.

Yes Ikea, H&M, Scania & Saab AND many others, cause the American crawling as though its a designer collection but its just a odinary Swedish village men invented it.. refering to Ikea.

I wouldn't buy in Ikea, it's a matter of style and quality for me. I wouldn't buy a Saab either for similar reasons and I don't drive lorries. That doesn't mean that I don't like anything Swedish or that I think that those Swedish produce are absolute crap. For example, Ikea is good in the sense that it is cheap and practical, but bad in the sense that it is bad quality and worse design (or vice versa). In the end, a matter of tastes.

Jacque, I don't think that anyone here believes that Swedes are more stupid or more clever than other Europeans. They are Swedes. Some are idiots and others are nice people. Same goes for each European country. And surely the same goes for each other country in the world. Percentages will undoubtedly vary as will the perception from different cultures.

I would advice you against doing such comparisons because they can easily turn against you.
