500 more immigrants assault the fenced border of Melilla

Melilla.- Police sources informed that some 500 immigrants of Sub-Saharian origins assaulted again last night the border fence that divides Morocco from Melilla. A number between 120 and 200 achieved their goal entering in Spanish territory.



The massive assault took place between 21.30 and 22.00, where six Guardias Civiles and some 30 immigrants were wounded, though the number of casualties could be bigger.

The immigrants took advantage on the bewilderment caused by the human avanlanche, assaulting the double fence divided into groups to further obstruct their detention and devolution to Morocco by the Spanish police, who used riot material.


The moment of the August 28th assault

Just as it happened in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, the Spanish police cut the road near the Pinares de Rostrogordo, where the fence has not yet been elevated to 6 metres of height, and which is the spot that the immigrants use to try to enter the autonomous city of Melilla.

According to some police sources quoted by the Efe Agency News, 1,000 Sub-Saharians participated in the assault. Between 120 and 200 immigrants could enter Melilla and arrived to the Police Station and the CETI (Temporary Staying Center for Immigrants).

During the early hours of Tuesday, 500 Sub-Saharians realized the biggest organized assault on the double fenced border between Morocco and Melilla. The Guardia Civil took nearly 270 ladders away from the fence, according to Government sources. Some 100 immigrants succeeded in entering Spanish territory, and were taken to the Police Station. 12 of them were lightly wounded.

Government sources said that the Sub-Saharians rushed over the fence in succesive groups of 50 to 100, and through different spots of the border perimeter, in the North and South zones.

The massive entries have taken place in the areas located between Río Nano and Pinares de Rostrogordo, and the area near the border control of Beni-Enzar, where the fence of the security perimeter has not yet been elevated to 6 meters of height.

Government sources also said that the Guardia Civil was forced to use riot material, as the immigrants refused to draw back and insisted in the attempts of intrusion, ignoring the presence of the police forces.

"The Guardia Civil could disperse the Sub-Saharians and avoid in part the break-in with much difficulty, due to the decided attitude of the immigrants, although some 100 of them succeeded in entering ilegally Melilla", said the speaker of the Government Delegation in the city.


The Center of Temporary Shelter for Immigrants is overflooded

The last wave of immigrants arrived in Melilla has overflooded the CETI, where there are already twice as many immigrants as it can shelter.

CETI has capacity to shelter up to 480 immigrants, but currently it has around 800, including men, women and some children. The Government Delegation said that the immigrants, including the new arrivals, "are being attended" despite the harsh conditions in the center.

The State Secretary for Security, Antonio Camacho, is attending the Congress Home Comission to inform of the situation of the border of Melilla.

Just a few minutes ago I was talking to an old comrade about this, and he said that on TV they had shown how these illegal immigrants were on the streets of Melilla, when the police "asked" them to get in patrol car to take them to the police station.

Just as one of them was setting his foot in the car, one immigrant who belonged to some NGO arrived and told the new arrivals that they had done nothing wrong, and thus they didn't have to get into the car. The immigrant who was getting in the police car got out and walked away with the others. The police said that they couldn't do a thing about it.

But I wonder, isn't breaking illegally in a country a crime? I would be detained if I did that on another country. Isn't walking around without ID documents a crime? I have to carry mine with me always. Etc..

Now the problem is that once they are in the country, they never say their country of origin and thus they can't be deported. And, needless to say, Morocco does not accept them back.

Apparently there was a third attempt to a massive assault by 350 immigrants which was aborted by the Guardia Civil.

In the meantime, the Communists reported in the Spanish Parliament that some "independent observers" have warned of abuses in the use of force by the Spanish Guardia Civil, and demanded that a team of UN observers is deployed in the security perimeter area. Amazing..

The Government will deploy 40 more agents of the Guardia Civil in the perimeter.

The Foreign Minister, who has been attending a summit with Morocco held in Sevilla, has said that the relations with Morocco in terms of collaboration are excellent at this moment. Typical bullsh**. The opposition speaker has asked him to explain how is it possible that the making of some 1,000 ladders and the large numbers of Sub-Saharan immigrants around the Spanish perimeter of security, has been unadverted for the Moroccan authorities, and that the relations and collaboration is excellent. The Spanish autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla, located in Northern Africa, have been excluded from the talks at the summit between Spain and Morocco. This points to a possible future surrender of these cities by the Socialists to Morocco. Scum..

On the other hand they have some of the best documentaries, I dislike their News and left propaganda, but they are at least more or less free from extreme Neoliberalism and have partly quite objective documentaries as I said. Just today one about Japanese soldiers in the destroyed cities after the war, was quite interesting and not too biased.

I prefer it to the private trash TV of the German stations...
Especially News and documentaries are just crap on the privates.

True. I agree. Some excellent documentaries indeed. The best I've seen so far. That changes from the average trash TV stupidities, TV reality, money games, talk shows, quizz... However, they seem to have some predilection for WWII, Hitler, Nazism and Holocaust topics... It's like it's still war around ARTE studios. A bit boring but not so surprising when you know what ARTE is about and who's implied in it. That's the problem beside their nauseabond leftism. But still I watch it, I admit, I use to watch it when I watch for TV, what's not usually. As for biased news, it's not uninteresting to watch it with a critical spirit. At least six immigrants wounded during an avalanche in border of Ceuta with Morocco

Police sources have reported that at least six immigrants of undetermined origin died last night as a consequence of the shots produced from an unknwon procedence, during an avalanche of some 600 or 700 immigrants against the fence of the perimeter between the autonomous city of Ceuta and Morocco.

The judge on duty is now on the spot to order the lift of the corpses. Besides, the higher authorities of Ceuta have met near the fence where these immigrants have died.

In the last days there have taken place a number of similar massive assaults in the autonomous city of Melilla. The last was on Tuesday, when some 500 Sub-Saharan immigrants organized a massive assault against the fence of the city of Melilla. Between 120 and 200 succeeded in entering Spanish territory. These waves of immigrants arrived to Melilla have overrun the Center of Temporary Shelter for Immigrants (CETI), where there are now almost twice as many as the allowed limit.

This new avalanche has taken place a few hours before Spain and Morocco celebrated in Sevilla and Cordoba the VII High Level Summit, in a "sweet moment" in the bilateral relations, according to the Spanish Government, geared towards the setting of centers for sheltering of underaged in Moroccan territory, and to maintain a regular co-operation against terrorism.

The Presidents of the Autonomous Cities of Ceuta and Melilla Demand that the Immigrants who Succeed into Jumping the Fence are Expelled

The Presidents of Melilla and Ceuta, J.J. Imbroda and J.J. Vivas, have spoken out in the Forum of Debate organized by the newspaper El Mundo on the carelessness of Morocco in its task to control the borders, and blamed the Spanish Government President Zapatero for the current edge situation which these cities are going through. Also, they maintained that the Aliens Law should be modified to allow the deportation of all immigrants who arrive without ID documents, as soon as they arrive in Spain.

Spanish and Moroccan officials will meet today during the VII bilateral summit among these two countries. According to J.J. Imbroda, "the colaboration of Morocco [in the issue of the assaults to the border fence] has been extremely deficient, non-existant. If they had colaborated with their laws, and had acted differently, this could have been avoided." With regards to the causes that have driven Morocco to a non colaboration on this matter, he assured that "it can be a way that they have to press on the Spanish Government to obtain other counter-benefits at some point, and that we must remember that we have today a summit and that the Moroccan way of acting is much in line with pressing to then obtain benefits."

Imbroda highlighted the role of the Army in this matter: "If there is an agression to a sovereignty, it is the Army that has to come out to repel it. But the Army is not there to counter 500 Sub-Saharans looking for a better world, subjugating, running, but without weapons in their hands. I want that the degree of these creatures is known."
