“It would have more weight in Europe than each country on its own”

Günther Grass supports Saramago’s idea of merging Spain and Portugal in one state.

German Nobel price writer, Günther Grass believes that an hypothetical iberian federal state would have more weight in Europe, as he says in an interview published by weekly magazine “Visao”.

“Maybe it would not be attainable, but some thinking should be done on the subject. An iberian state also would have in Europe, in a federal context, a much greater influence that each state on its own”, the author of “The Tin Drum” pointed out.

Mr. Grass refered this way to the statement of portuguese writer José Saramago (Nobel Prize 1998) about the possibility of a joining between Spain and Portugal to create an Iberian State.

He pointed out that the suggestion of the portuguese writer is interesting, and that he likes Saramago’s attitude of saying things that can be politically incorrect.

On the other hand, he stated that Europe won’t survive without inmigration, and that this continent must not become a fortress. “Europe won’t survive without inmigration. We shouldn’t fear that situation: all the great cultures emerged from crossbreeding”, said the writer.

Grass said on that respect that the Iberian Peninsula is a good proof of that, being a geographical space “where the influence of moor’s culture created great things”. “The picaresque romance, wich inspires me, is a typical product of crossbreeding”, he remarked.

About his past as a SS member, Mr. Grass acknowledged that during his teen years he never wondered about what belonging to the aforementioned organization meant, and he remarked that the attacks he has received on this matter in Germany came from the faction of the media who opposes his left-wing ideas.

I wonder wheter these old multi-laureated writers actually think that their statements and attitude go against the system. They fancy themselves as politically incorrect partisans, and they are just supporting all the politicians' plans.

As for the moorish influence in Spain: Mr. Grass should speak about things he knows something about. This kind of generic statements permeate the public's mind, even though they have no real basis. The anti-system writer cheering Europe's invasion by Islam forces. Shame on him.

Neither Günther Grass nor José Saramago are heros of the politically incorrect. They are no political incorrect but the opposite. They are system fundamentalists.

The Iberian federation that Saramago has spoken of is a poor concept that ignores the foundations and degrades the true meaning of it.

Grass is a typical example of that kind of leftist vermin that stands loyal to the ruling establishment. For years he enjoyed to be a "moral instance" and left no opportunity out to point with his fingers to anyone having been conscripted for German armed forces.
