This is some kind of compilation from a documentary produced by FST.

I was sort of annoyed by the multicultist interpretation: "multicultural, vibrant and cosmopolitan Viipuri is monoculturalized"...

It reminds me very much the destiny of Narva. Once beautiful baroque style city was bombed by Russians and after the war Soviet style houses were built instead, Estonians were banned to live there and colonists from Russia were bought in, so that now we have Russian city inside Estonia.

It's the Russian way - to destroy beautiful things that are important to others.

Heh, I've eaten inside the round tower that shows on the youtube attachment! Vyborg is rather falling apart these days, yes.

Is the Vy- in the title the same as the German Weih-, i.e. 'something holy'?
