I don't know if anyone can help me. A few years back I had chanced upon a site claiming that a certain scientist (Russian?? I don't remember) has drawn certain conclusions to the effect that history happened differently to what we have learned for example that the Trojan wars happened in the Middle Ages and other outlandish claims. I can't find it again and I would appreciate it if someone can direct me to it again. Thank you.

It does ring a bell with me.
If I remember correctly, he was stating that the timeline of European history is false and that certain eras of our times were closer than previously thought. I did have a quick Google for it, but found nothing.

very interesting.
Does anyone remember what he was basing his theory on?

That's right BeornWulfWer. Spot on, same site same guy as yours. That's what I did, I tried searching with different keywords but got nothing. I stumbled upon that site, found it interesting, meant to save it but forgot all about it. A few days ago I remembered about it again and since I like these sort of things I would like to research and think about his claims further but can't find it and I'm going crazy.

I am taking a "history theory" class in the fall at my university.
Maybe I will hear something of it then if we don't find the site by then.

In the eighties (1985) a Mexican "scholar" Roberto Salinas Price made a claim that Troy was situated in the village Gabela, on the frontier between Croatia and Bosnia, near from the delta of the river Neretva. He was granted extensive media coverage in the whole of former Yugoslavia, whereby he was empowered to molest the public of at least one country with his "theories".
