I have seen this used on some forums. I’ve always liked it to be quite a pleasant feature to add on to the forums.

We discussed it time ago among some members of the Staff, and the agreement was that it looked a little silly in some forums and that it added no real value.

You should use instead the reputation feature (), which also allows to add a private comment.

As for future changes, apparently the next version of the forums software will be a major upgrade directed towards.. uh... they said something like taking it towards a development of social networking community or something.

I don't look forward to it, to be honest. I fear that with all the modifications that we have now, the upgrade is going to be a real pain in the foot.
