Thank you Siegmund. Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries after crossing the Strait, and the 220v generator didn't work. That same night we had a beautiful full moon over the Mediterranean. The night after, the moon was still full and in the sunset, right after the sun hid on the horizon, I saw one of the most beautiful red moons over a dark blue sky that I've ever seen.

I also couldn't take pictures of the beautiful sunrises over the Mediterranean.
But I did take a couple of short video shots of the beggining of the storm before we entered into the Strait. You can find them attached to this post in .mov format.

The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth.
For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish.
- Edmund Spenser (writer, and British Government Official in Ireland, AD 1596).

The renaissance began in Ireland seven hundred years before it was known in Italy. And Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, was at one time the metropolis of civilisation.

Ireland can indeed lay claim to a great past; she can not only boast of having been the birthplace and abode of high culture in the fifth and sixth centuries . . . but also of having made strenous efforts in the seventh and up to the tenth century to spread her learning among the German and Romance peoples, thus forming the actual fountain of our present continental civilisation.

I never had them, Kvasir.
I'm a highly developed land-based creature. As a Scottish comedian stated when talking about people on the beach:-

"People go swimming in the sea. Why? Those things that live in there don't like us. They've made it perfectly clear. They nip us. They cut us. They bite us. They sting us. We spent millions of years getting out of the sea and the first thing we do is jump back into the bloody thing!"

Nonesense. Sea loving people are beach hating people. I live very near to the sea and I stopped going to the beach when I was 13, except for a few rare occasions. Oh, and except for when I'm feeling blue in the winter and I go to a deserted beach to see the sunset and relax. In the summer tourists and beach-goers spoil it all.
