I agree with Erasmus on this; compare what was before to what came after. I myself have never believed in the idea of "creative destruction" which got us where we are today.

Think of Russia as well. Look at this photo and think of the events which soon followed for this family and for millions of others.


The century which started in 1914 cannot end soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

EU wants to rule as a national state of regions that have been formely sovereign states, the Habsburg monarchy ruled over several ethnicities that each deserved an own national state instead.

All those buildings are very nice, but I can only agree with Aptrgangr and Panonski. Austria-Hungary was the very opposite of nationalism, a multi-ethnic state ruled by a degenerated Dinasty.

Wilhelm II was Franz Joseph's ally, without his backing the Austro-Hungarian Empire never would have waged war against Serbia.
I do not prefer any of them, they are persons of history and it is important to scrutinze their speeches and actions.

No, Bismarck is not my idol, I do not have idols anyway. He unified Germany in 1871, but I can not endorse his idea of a Prussian hegemony over Germany.
