I know I badly organized it, but below are images of Gamzigrad. It is a town in Serbia known for it's spa and for the nearbyremains of the roman town of Felix Romuliana. Below arwe image of the roman ruins.

I have been there but it was 9 years ago. So back then I was 9 years of age and hence I remember little about it and there is not alot of useful information about the site on the internet. Basically it was not a significant Roman settlement but it is one of the best preserved Roman ruins outside of Italy.

That was a very prosperous and politically influential part of the Empire from what I've read. It can be seen in some of these pictures.

Gamzigrad on UNESCO list?24 June 2007 | 13:16 | Source: B92, BBC CHRISTCHURCH -- The UNESCO committee is meeting in New Zealand to discuss which sites to add to the World Heritage List.

Around 45 sites are in competition to be added to the list of most valuable natural or manmade treasures, one of them from Serbia.

The Gamizgrad site, located south of the Danube river near Zaječar in eastern Serbia, also known as Felix Romuliana, is among five locations that stand most chances to enter the list.

Felix Romuliana is thought to have been one of the residences built by the Roman Emperor Gaius Galerius Valerius Maximianus in the late 3rd and early 4th century and dedicated to his mother Romulae.

It was officially recognized as a monument of Roman architecture in 1984.

Aside from Gamzigrad, French town of Bordeaux, Greek island of Corfu, the Sydney Opera House, and Volcanic island of Jeju, South Korea, are hoping to enter the world heritage listing.

The committee will also decide if any heritage sites are in danger from war, tourism, overdevelopment or neglect.

Those that could be deemed endangered include the Tower of London, the Galapagos Islands, Dresden in Germany and Machu Picchu in Peru.

There are currently 830 sites on the World Heritage List, from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, which has been updated regularly since 1972.
