An interesting opinion from an authoritative turkish political commentator seems to reveal that in Turkey the real roots of that people are steering it from joining EU towards a different political destiny.

Welcome to the "news-already-posted" club. I am the president of the aforementioned club. The news I post are always deleted.
![]() Anyway, those are important news and deserve to be posted twice. Bad news for the euro-identitarias, I guess. Last edited by Menydh; Thursday, November 15th, 2007 at 11:54. Reason: merge posts |

Looks like an infantile rant from that Turk, over the reticence of the European Union to grant Turkey full access to the club.
I agree with Crvena. Russian and Turkish interests overlap in Central Asia and the Caucasus, plus Turkey is one of the most willing allies of the U.S. This kind of opinion-analysis articles are for goat-lover readers.

It is highly unlikely. But such geopolitical anayses are more often than not just conjectures about future, predictions, very often without ground in reality, and, most of all, wishful thinking. They speak more about someone's wishes than about real scenarios of the future.

Well, maybe the EU is keener on receiving Turkey into its membership than the Turks themselves on joining the EU? Did you ever think of something like that?

the only opinion that matters for brussel is that of the small westernized elites who share the same masonic lodge roots as the bruxellite gang. As it was the case for the opinion of the various italian peoples at the time of unification, only the opinion of the enlightened elites will be taken into account. obviously They haven't considered the depth of the turkish people love for their county, their identity, their religion and their pride that easily turns into deadly chauvinism. I hope that will bring them to the path of the americanized Iran that dumped the Shah and the US to find its real roots, despite the support of a thin group of privileged and corrupted westerners.

If Turkey joins EU, they will become the second most populous, and thus second most powerful member state. No important decision could be made without Turkey's consent. |

Call it delay if you wish, but the Turks will keep seeing it as reticence on the part of the EU, since they don't have to care for whatever indices of popularity of Merkel in Germany.
