Flanders to declare independence?

There is a possibility that Flanders will secede from Belgium.
De Telegraaf reports that approximately 60% of Dutch residents would support unification of Flanders and Holland. Sources from Belgium, however, claim that there is significantly lower number of those who wish for Flanders to be a part of Holland, and higher number of those who wish it to become an independent state.

I would congratulate the Flemish people on that, if that happened. Belgium is a miniature copy of the great caricature of the USA called European Union. If it falls apart, maybe it will mark the beginning of the dismantlement of the EU (which has its seat in Brussels) and the creation of the new Europe of the Nations.

Prussia is dead, her territories are inhabited by Poles and Russians now. Why on earth should we want to have them?
There is no point in whining about lost territories, we're losing core-Germany piece for piece everyday - that's the real problem.

Is it just an urban legend or is it true that Russia had offered in the nineties to give Koenigsberg (Kaliningradskaya Oblast) back to Germany (in exchange of some sum of money, I suppose) and the Chancellor Kohl refused that offer?

I have not found any reliable source proving this.

I see the break-up of any non-nation state as a good thing. So I hope the flemish find the courage to carry through their majority wish. I hope it happens as diplomatically as possible!

If they reunited with Holland their immigration and multiculturalism derivated problem would remain the same.

Holland and Belgium are the worst european states under this pov.

Also, the tarditionalist flemish people wouldn't go along well with the laissez faire dutch people.

Better a total independence, or reunification with Holland would just mean an occasion for freedom being lost forever.

The difference between subsidizing the french speaking part of Belgium and subsidizing dutch sleazers and moslem immigrants in a reunified Holland is risible.

It is as if Padania could make its romance language roots good for an unification with France: we would end up subsidizing moslem and black african immigrants under the reign of the necon SArkozi.

No thanks, I prefer to subsidize the southern italian mafia and its master puppeteers, the southern italian politicians.
