Default Complete mitochondrial DNA sequencing available

Family tree DNA are providing a complete sequence of an individual's mtDNA for under $1000. See http://www.familytreedna.com/descrip...mtFullSequence

I would be interested, but does anyone know how useful this would be? The information seems to indicate that this will prepare the customer for future publications on mtDNA haplotypes, but at the moment few full sequences have been published. Is that right?

I find that the information on every single test on the site is insufficient. And, anyway, mtDNA would only tell one part of the story.
Quote:
mtDNA Full Sequence: The purpose of offering a Full Mitochondria Sequence test is to: a) more accurately establish the actual mutation rate of the female inherited mtDNA; b) apply statistics to more accurately predict when two people who match identically likely shared a MRCA (Most Recent Common Ancestor);c) provide the only (or final) mtDNA test that one will ever need to take;d) allow our most inquisitive clients to have results that will be ‘in hand’ when more advanced scientific papers are published in the future.
Sounds pretty much like marketing. Or I might be wrong, of course. But at $895 ..

This would make a great April Fool's joke. Imagine sending someone you know a phony mtDNA report of their female ancestry in which, after a long scientific discussion, it said that "your maternal ancestors were hardly better than cheap black whores". Then, after he reads it, begin begging this poor guy to let you see his report.
