This would support the theory that Slavs have originated somewhere in Ukraine/Poland, where the R1a frequency is at its peak(possibly the Galicia region), and then colonized lands that were already inhabited by indigenous populations. In this case, Russians have assimilated a share of indigenous Uralic peoples when they colonized the lands, thus the relatively high frequency of N3 haplogroup. I find it interesting that such diversity is observed in the Russian mtDNA results. I believe that diversity is most probably caused by intermixing between Slavs, and various pre-Slavic populations that resided in that certain areas.

Interestingly, this was already noted by physical anthropologists of the past, like by I. Schwidetzky et al.
The Osteuropid element in Balto-Slavs can be mostly (not fully) attributed to this intermixture.

So it seems that R1a markers moved east carried by Russian peoples. Well, not much surprise there. But I still wonder how so much N3 markers moved as far west of the Urals as Feno-Scandia and the Baltics.

It still doesn't make sense to me if we compare it to genetic results, where y-haplogroup N3 (by far the largest haplogroup in the Feno-Baltic region) is the Uralic mark.

Over time, the subclades were formed, like N3(Tat (M46)), which is predominant in Sakha people. Besides, there are several subclades that are derived from N3, so it is possible that N3 carriers have colonized different lands, thus allowing the local mutations to occur.

Rurik, Founder of the Russian Empire, probably belonged to Haplogroup N3a1(baltic-finnic)

Even if admitting that that is correct, you would have to agree that his heritage lies with the modern Russians, not with the modern Fino-Ugrians. And the same goes with the heritage of the Varangians.
