Arabicosity? Hum. How do you read the handwriting? It seems so hard.

When I was on Canary Islands, many Canarians tried to speak Spanish with me, but many thought that I'm Englishman. That's strange because I don't look like Spaniard or Englishman, having medium pigmentation, medium brown hair and brown eyes.

Speaking of Lebanese and foreign restaurants, I remember a Lebanese pastisserie near Marble Arch in London where they had pastries very similar to the Turkish and Greeks baklavas made of pistacchio, almonds and honey. Very nice.

The Arabs manage easily enough, and so could I once I'd got used to it, unless it was in that ornate calligraphic style they use now and then. |

Lebanese like to think they have nothing in common with Arabs. They also don't appreciate to be mistaken for Arabs. Oop, I think sorry you look so typical for a Norwegian.
I avoid Lebanese restaurants, most of them are runned by Muslims. Better a notorious Muslim shop than a fake Christian one. I've to say their food is rather good, way better than Maghrebian's, not my favorite but still good.

Well, at first sight, one cannot be too sure. After a few polite words exchanged, yes it is. They are Christians -a few Arabs are as well, what about them? I guess it is the main difference. And the looks, they are lighter. Other than that they both speak a semitic language, they live in the ME. Their concerns are not ours -at least mine.

In Spain, they are to some extent. It's very racial in a way.
For example, Falangists used to sing a changed version of the Carlist anthem, Oriamendi, as a mockery: original version For God, for Motherland and for King Fought our parents For God, for Motherland and for King We shall fight too We shall fight all together All together in a union Defending the flag Of the Holy Tradition --- Falangist version [...] If your father threw himself out Straight from a balcony You would throw yourself too Only to follow "Tradition" The most common answer from a Carlist to the question why he was one was: because my father, my grandfather, etc., were too. The funny thing is that this is, at different levels, true in many Socialists, Communists, Conservatives, etc. Quote:
She was my blind date that night, but as usual with anything female French, my idea of a flirt is to create a polemical situation. Fortunately (for her) there was a Dutch friend with us willing to put a happy ending to the night. ![]()
