The Irish are one of the most ancient nations that I know of at this end of the world, and are from as mighty a race as the world ever brought forth.
For it is certain that Ireland hath had the use of letters very anciently and long before England; that they had letters anciently is nothing doubtful, for the Saxons of England are said to have their letters and learning, and learned men, from the Irish.

The renaissance began in Ireland seven hundred years before it was known in Italy. And Armagh, the ecclesiastical capital of Ireland, was at one time the metropolis of civilisation.

Ireland can indeed lay claim to a great past; she can not only boast of having been the birthplace and abode of high culture in the fifth and sixth centuries . . . but also of having made strenous efforts in the seventh and up to the tenth century to spread her learning among the German and Romance peoples, thus forming the actual fountain of our present continental civilisation.

Strange that you should mention this as there is a really good beer in Thailand, Tiger Beer, which everybody, universally, calls "Tiger Piss".

I remember hearing a rumour that was propagated in the U.S., which had it that Mexicans pissed on the beer that they produced for export to the U.S.

This was likely a rumour extended by U.S. beer producers.

I haven't tried it but I know many people who have and recommend it, as well as Cobra lager from India.

One that I have tried is a Chinese lager called Tsing Tao, and I must admit it's really good

Whether you buy Chinese goods or not, they shall come. But the more we buy Chinese goods, the less we buy European made goods. They break the market with cheaper products. I try to support the French (or European) workers, I buy French/European.

That is the concept of trade, I'm afraid.
It's nice in theory, but unfortunately we are in the global marketplace these days, and no country is self-sufficient.

That's easy for you because you have nice beer.
If you have ever tried Scottish lager, you might conclude that Chinese immigration is a small price to pay in order to forgo the "pleasures" of Tennents or McEwan's

But still we have the choice to consum National or European. No? I prefer buying more expansive things than 3rd world made stuffs. If I can't afford home made goods, I don't buy cheaper.

I'm afraid I've not yet. May I advise Tienanman Beer? Seriously, if you visited some chinese districts in Paris, you'd be scared.

Tsing Tao is good beer. I never let politics get in the way of a good beer. There is something called Lion Beer from Singapore which is good also.
