Well, I like apfelstrudl too, actually it's one of the deserts I cook most often. It's also good with icecream. Apfeltorte is not bad either.

I am also not that keen on chocolate. Perhaps being a beer drinker has caused this........I also hate any sweet cakes, ice cream & desserts....surprising since I am a female..

I am also a beer drinker (beer is probably the only type of alcohol I drink often. Wine comes second - on special occasions, and I'm not really a spirits fan)
I bet though a lot of females with weight problems would like to have this dislike for sweets

If your talking about beers, Germany makes the best beers.
if your talking about Cider, English cider is rotten, horrible stuff wheras irish cider is Great, Ciders on the mainland are to sweet and seem to be more geard towards girls than the cider we have here on the Irish Ilses

Ireland makes the best whiskeys too, and our Vodka is nice as well.

You have to take everything claiming to be genuine with a grain of salt where I am. New York City. I did have Brian Boru a few times, I must say it was really good.

I had good cider on holiday in Spain once (called cidra there). They're famous for it in Asturias. You have to be careful with English cider; most of it is pish and is produced cheaply for sale to adolescents, vagrants and people with learning disailities. There is good cider if you buy from local independent producers. Don't forget Perry too - cider made with pears.

I go with German food, especially Bavarian food.

I like Weißwürstl, Bratwürstl, Schweinshaxn, Rindsrouladen, Saure Zipfel, Grießnockerl, Leberkas mit Ei, König Ludwig Torte,Topfnstrudel (okay, thats Austria... ), Jägapfanne...and so on.

Swiss food is good, too: Raclette, Fondue....

Italian food obviously, but I also very much like Hungarian cousine. Croatian food is very much somewhere between(or combined) Italian-Hungarian food actually.

Umh.. that gave me an idea. A goulash-like ragu with some pork meat and some kind of pasta (not spaghetti).. perhaps ravioli filled with meat. Sounds promising.
