So many Balkanoids and no Rakia thread ....Shame on us
So it's the thread for our favourite rakii.
I start with this one "Peshterska Grozdova":

I don't like it, I have bad memories on driking rakija.

My favorite:

This native twice-distilled plum brandy, the best known brandy from these parts, is made from plums in the Lika area. It is carefully prepared according to old recipes, and is left to age for one year. This is one of the best quality plum brandies on the market. Due to the small quantities produced (this is still a trial series), it is available only in 0.5L bottles. Serve chilled!

The only Rakija I can find in Copenhagen is the Šljivovica from Maraska. It's great, but I would prefer being able to choose.

If you consider Maraska rakija as 'great', I predict that your will find your self in heaven after you try some of my grandpa's rakija, or another self-made one from the Balkans.

Anyway, my favorit type of rakija is travarica from Hercegovina, sometimes Dalmatia. Gangaš (a brand from Hercegovina) makes a good one (20 euro one bottle). They also make other types of Rakija and wines.

Well, it's a top quality rakija, but very few people here actually drink it. Most people prefer drinking their home made stuff, like myself.
