When 'Al Qaeda' bombed twin towers it was Greeks and Palestineans the two people that went out to the roads cheering for the hit.

And the american ambassies are attacked intensively everywhere on Earth, not only in Europe but in Asia, Africa (not to mention U.S. authorities are attacked in the very U.S.A.)
Hence, my conclusion is that american embassies somewhat attract notice and attacks.
