Russia Outraged by Moldova’s Offer of Compensation for Nazi War Veterans

Russia has criticized Moldova for offering compensation to all its World War II veterans irrespective of which side they fought on.

The statement, made by the Russian Foreign Ministry and quoted by AP, said this move insults the memory of those killed in the war against Nazi Germany.

Interesting that a Communist president would pull such a move. Back during Soviet days, you were pretty much a social outcast if you or a family member fought on the Axis side.

Moldovans are Romanians and there state was free and Romanian until the Soviet Union annected Bessarabia.

Anyway, its just absurd not to help the other war veterans, just because they fought for Romania and not Soviet-Communists...
