But,people,Kosovo is already independent state,no matter how i don't like it or i don't won't to addmit it!!In my heart,in my mind it is always be Serbia,but reality is much more different and has nothing with wishes!!!!It is about my holy land,my beloved Serbia but those are facts!!!International law is dead and Russia is very well aware of that..So,why,should they respect it i am asking you if nobody else is doing that? Georgians started this carnage, no doubt. The 1400 dead are Ossetian civilians killed by Georgian forces, from what I can discern from media reports. Ossetians are people apart from Georgians, their languages are totally unrelated. Ossetian language belongs to the Indo-Iranian (they are descendants of ancient Alans), whilst Georgian is a Caucasian (non-Indoeuropean) language. Both are mostly Christian Orthodox, with Ossetians having a Muslim minority (about 30%).

There is a difference between Kosovo and South Ossetia/Abkhazia (i.e. the former is internationally recognized as an independent state, while the latter two are parts of the internationally recognized Georgian territory), but I'm afraid you're right. To tell you the truth, I don't understand why did it come to this. Russia doesn't want more territory, obviously, so why did it support the separatist regions in the first place? Is there a strategic resource in one of the regions that I am unaware of?

Joint Peacekeeping Force in South Ossetia Commander General-Major Marat Kulakhmetov doesn’t trust Georgia’s promise to open humanitarian corridor for Tskhinvali residents, Interfax reported.
“It is another lie of Georgia. No corridor has been opened for civilians to withdraw,” Kulakhmetov told Interfax from Tskhinvali Friday.

Fierce battles continue in the city and the residents are unable to leave it, the general said, adding he doesn’t trust Georgia’s statements. “How can you trust their words. Having announced the cease-fire, they proceeded to large-scale combat assault on the civilians,” Kulakhmetov explained.

Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava announced Georgia’s readiness to open a corridor for peaceful residents of Tskhinvali from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., allowing them to leave the city and head for Ergneti-village. Georgia will provide temporarily accommodation for all of them, the mayor vowed. He also promised amnesty to all, who voluntary surrender the weapons. Georgia’s troops control around 70 percent of Tskhinvali, the mayor specified.
