Slovenia "wants apology for embassy" 22 February 2008
Slovenian President Danilo Turk has written to his Serbian counterpart, asking for an "apology and reparations".

Turk sent a letter to President Boris Tadić, asking for reparations for the damages that the Slovenian embassy has incurred from attacks over the last several days, since the unilateral Kosovo independence declaration.

Turk said that “everything that needed to be said was said” in the letter.

Turk strongly condemned the behavior which led to the destruction of the Slovenian embassy and the desecration of the nation symbols of Slovenia and symbols of the European Union.

He said that he expects the Serbian government to take the necessary measures and to apologize for the damage, according to Slovenian media.

Turk also said that with the adoption of the Slovenian government proposal for recognizing Kosovo independence, the process of recognition has begun and will head to the parliament.

If I were the pm or president I would appologize once the situation cooled down. But then I read the following:

I wouldn't appologize, just because of the mention to the EU. The EU has undermined Serbia since OCtober 5, 2000 and they are our enemy.

It's a shame he even mentions Slovenian symbols in the same line as EU symbols.

Anyway, I don't view Slovenian flag as some kind of important Slovenian symbol to me, it's a symbol of Republic Slovenia which is currently kissing the ass of America and EU.

Well, generally you should know that there is no single Serb in this world that hates the Slovenes as a nation. Not now not ever.

People are just pissed here and mad at official policy of many European governments, not just Slovenian.

Here albanian cause raises very, very few sympathies among the common people, to say the least.

The Albanian cause could raise sympathy in none other "European" place than a Muslim-packed suburbian slum.

Regarding Slovenia, well, they deserved apologies for their embassy, of course, but hey, Turk mentioned the European Union. It has this imperialistic taste in his mouth, so f*ck Turk...
