'Muslim Extremists Creating No-Go Areas'

One of the Church of England's most senior bishops says he fears Islamic extremists are creating "no-go areas" across Britain.

The right Reverend Michael Nazir-Ali, the Church's only Asian bishop, says people of a different race or faith face being attacked in some Muslim areas.


Bishop speaks of fears

In the Sunday Telegraph, he criticises the doctrine of multi-culturalism for creating separate communities which fail to integrate into the mainstream of society.
Dr Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester, compares intimidation by Muslim radicals to that of far-Right extremists.
He questions whether elements of Sharia law are applicable in the UK and confronts directly the use of loudspeakers on mosques to spread the call to prayer.
He writes: "There has been a worldwide resurgence of the ideology of Islamic extremism.

"One of the results of this has been to further alienate the young from the nation in which they were growing up and also to turn already separate communities into 'no-go' areas where adherence to this ideology has become a mark of acceptability."
Inayat Bunglawala, assistant secretary-general of the Muslim Council of Britain, accused the bishop of scaremongering.
He said: "Bishop Nazir-Ali appears to be exercised by what he perceives as the decline in the influence of Christianity upon this country.
"But trying to frantically scaremonger about Islam and Muslims seems to us to be a rather unethical way of trying to reverse this."

This no-go areas have existed for quite some time I believe.
I remember a close friend told me that while visiting Paris, he entered a store to buy cigs. The cashier told him that he should be smart and leave this part of town because his "kind" are not welcome.
Of course that is just one story..I have heard and experienced countless others.

These are ghettoes. Contrary to popular belief, historical ghettoes in Europe were rarely artificially created by natives in an effort to alienate racial/religious minorities. These ghettoes have usually grown naturally by the own will of such minorities as a means to preserve themselves, apart from the native population.

Funny that while governments try to push the agenda of integration and assimilation, it is from the immigrant minorities that they find the staunchest opposition.

The Bishop has been harshly critisised by other church figures for this.
I would say, yes, there are SOME no-go areas in SOME small pockets of UK cities. There are, however, many more areas where, while they are NOT "no-go", are places where non-islamic people feel uneasy passing through.
