(I personally think it is important)
Feel free to discuss...
(note: when I say "environmental policy", I don't mean the the twisted ideology of "environmentalism" as understood in the public discourse today, the ideology that has degenerated into either a mere money-making business of different Al Gore-s, or incoherent ramblings of some pseudo-philosophers, but I mean a good and reasonable approach to the issue of nature and its relation to people, as well as striving towards a harmonious relationship between the two)

Good thread,Plethon.
I was thinking this myself the other day albeit not in the scope of Nationalism, but as a good, healthy, respectful person should.
I think the importance of having a healthy environment within which to live, and within which to raise your children and the future generations, is vital towards having some kind of pride and love for your country.
I always wonder if the degenerative behaviour of mankind is linked to its surroundings.
I know that living in a clean surroundings as a child instilled a love and respect for nature and a certain respect as to keeping it so for others around me.
But as you grow older the cities glare soon entices you to within its walls, and within these walls you do seem to lose a sense of the greater surroundings as you are swallowed into the murk and grime that cities seem to have.
I can't judge the state of cities on the continent as I have never travelled further than Brittany.
(boy did those toilets amaze me

....

)
But within Englands shores the cities are murky, grimy and down right disgusting to look upon.
It is only certain areas that perhaps warrant a thought of looking beautiful, but they are few and far between.
I suppose what i'm saying though is that to have a sense of love for your country(and i mean beyond a love for your national sports)you do have to have a sense of respect for your country and its environment.
I love my country.I don't think anyone could say i didn't.
But there are days where i look around at the grimy surroundings and have a distinct lack of love for my country.
I think this is also true for the up and coming generations to have a certain disrespect for their surroundings.
I know from the burnt out cars and rubbish and litter that haunt the scenery that they do not care, and why should any of us?
So i think the current awareness of recycling and looking after our environment, although sickening in its capitalist nature,is inherently a good thing which only needs to be nurtured to become a natural, nationwide phenomenon.
