Island found in Arctic Circle A new island has been discovered in the Arctic after rising temperatures melted the giant ice sheet which covered it.
The rocky mass - dubbed Warming Island - lies 400 miles north of the Arctic Circle in eastern Greenland, reports The Sun.
It was found by US explorer Dennis Schmitt 60 and is seen as further proof of global warming.
Danish mapping expert Hans Jepsen said: "It was clearly detached from the mainland when the connecting glacier-bridge retreated southward."
Explorer Schmitt said: "There is a dark side to this. We were all aware of the dire consequences."

Denamrk would win. Just because Canada's submarines would sink , it's helicopters would crash upon take off , it's naval ships would be in need of repair before they reached the island and their arctic troops would get stuck on an ice flow and are guaranteed to be ill-prepared.

Oh please. It doesn't matter if you have superior equipment. Canadian military would still have there helicopters crash, submarines sink and all their equipment in need of repair before they entered international space. For a military a part of nato and so close to the U.S. and with such equipment, Canada's military is a joke.

Like I said if am group of crazy dutchmen were to decide to invade Eastern Island Canada would not be able to defend it.

As far as I know Canada only participate in "peace keeping." So basically they can't shoot. Peacekeeprs are pathetic, in almost every peacekeeping mission since 1990s peacekeepers have been held hostage because they're so pathetic.

I remember reading somewhere that Colin Powell in Bush Sr.'s administration said he believed that 500,000 troops would be needed to try and prevent a war between Serbs and Croats in 1991. He also apparently said the same thing about invading Serbia when asked why Clinton chose an air war.
