The political border changed numerous times. One day it was Kyivan Rus', the next part of Lithuania, then Poland, then the Kozak State, then Mouscovy, then Poland then the Ukrainian state, then Poland, then the UkrSSR then Ukraine. For me what is more important are the people that live there and they are Ukrainian. |

Joseph Conrad (1857-1924) Renown English writer
1857 Jozef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski born December 3 in Berdichev (or vicinity) (in Ukraine in Kyiv) to Apollo Nalecz Korzeniowski and Evelina (Ewa) Bobrowska. 1862 May 8, Apollo Korzeniowski exiled to Vologda, Russia, accompanied by his wife and son. etc http://www.lang.nagoya-u.ac.jp/~matsuoka/Conrad.html Interesting - despite writting in English - did he cease being Polish or called English. The Russians tend to do this with Gogol. Did Conrad write anythng about Poland? |
