Petlioura, Simon
1879-1926 Head of the autonomous Ukraine. Murdered by a jewish watchmaker named Samuel Schwarzbard in Paris, 1926 Mai 25th. Petlioura was accused by jews to be the instigator of the pogroms that took place in Ukraine in 1919 and 1921 during the civil war (after the the October revolution). The murderer's trial was called the "Progroms Trial". Many of then famous peoples supported Scharzbard, such as Maxime Gorki. An association was even created : the "Ligue Anti Progrom" which became later the LICA now known as LICRA. Schwarzbard was finally acquited, he died in South Africa, 1936.
