How to download videos from Youtube and similar sites

For those who don't all ready know how to download videos from Youtube, Google Video, DailyMotion, ZippyVideos, Putfile or any other video hosting web site here are some smal instructions on how to do so.

Instructions:

To download videos from Youtube, Google Video, DailyMotion, ZippyVideos, Putfile or any other video hosting web site go in to this web site and Copy the URL from the address bar were the video is, on to the "download" bar in the javimoya site.

To wach the videos once there downloaded use "VLC media player"

To change the format of the videos to AVI, MGP, WMV . . . or other formats use "Cinema Forge"

Great stuff, but since I found no instructions, are there Linux versions available? I run Ubuntu Linux Christian Edition 2.0. Would be more convenient if there were Linux versions of the applications listed, as I don't really like booting into Windows anymore.

Nice one Erasmus, there are hundreds of programs wich can all serve as converters, or you can convert them online too like you well say, thats another option.

I am not quite sure about that, let's see if someone else who uses Linux can actually help you with this because I can't. I've never used Linux to tell you the truth.

Extension works in Linux, then I used Zamzar - Free online file conversion to convert. Great stuff guys!

I noticed a lot of people are using converters. These converters can degrade the quality of the videos and possibly even make the file sizes larger on top of that.

I personally use the Firefox extension Greasemonkey in conjunction with scripts. Scripts can be found here. Many times the videos are either AVI or FLV. As long as you have the right codecs or VLC, you should be fine.
