I used to use IE till today, I say today because I have set Firefox as my default web browser this morning, even though I’ve had it installed for some time now I've never seemed to used it, ever, what happens to me is that once I get hooked to using a certain program or version of a certain software I just don't feel like changing to a new or different version even if I know that that other version is objectively better.

The reason why I’ve finally changed to Firefox is because of flaws in IE like this one: Hackers Trigger Security Panic for Internet Explorer - World news | Newser

I don’t know anything about the other browsers; IE and Firefox are the only ones I have come across.

So far i only used IE, Firefox, Opera and Konqueror.
From these Firefox is the best, by some distance in my opinion.

I've been using Firefox for several years now, and I think it is great (speed, customization, security), especially compared with IE.

Mostly Firefox, rarely Safari, and the odd time W3C's Amaya (to parse web pages code) and text-based Lynx.

I've added options for Gnome's Galeon/Epiphany, KDE's Konqueror and Lynx.

Mel Gibson's Safari 3 is one of the best computer games ever

Mel Gibson’s Safari 3 Review (Web-based)|The Average Gamer

It is known for advanced graphic effects

As for the browser, it sucks.. IE is the best, face it.

You could and can have both, or aren't you allowed.

I fail to understand the popularity of Firefox - I hate the designs, everything in it

Those sites are only in the few and in between.

The "problem" with firefox is that once you get used to the add-ons, you miss them on any other web browser.

All of the add-ons?

The downside to firefox is the speed. Especially compared to safari.

Spot on. I couldn't live without linky and downthemall or downloadhelper (for flash movies) extensions.

For there rest, google chrome on windows is the faster browser I have seen.

They could win the war simply by adding extensions, especially the ones concerning downloading images and flash movies.
