Europe and Europeans as seen in Anime
It always surprised me how recurrent is European culture in Anime, from a couple of dedicated episodes in the most popular series to fully European-themed ones like A dog of Flanders, Adventures of Little El Cid or Lady Oscar. It's, in my opinion, very helpful to understand how we are perceived from a so distant nation as it is Japan. Besides, taking into account how big is the impact of Japanese animation around the world, you might agree with me that it can work as a perfect "stereotyper" in some occasions, at least among the youth.
 For example, let's see how they exhibit the French "good manners" in two episodes of Ranma 1/2 (  ):Bonjour, Furinkan

female anime carachters are often depicted as having long blond curly hair such as Lady Georgie, Lady Oscar, Candy Candy, Sandybelle etc.
Some of those animes are rather accurated on a certain degree. You can imagine that all those japanese tourists compulsively taking pictures are actually anime/manga authors seeking for inspiration.

Except for the pigmentation, there's no real difference morphologically between Japanese and Europeans. It's not always the case nonetheless, Japenese can also appear depigmented in their anime.
Actually, I think pigmentation doesn't matter much, the body they give to their characters are not really those of Europeans but Japanese most likely.

Lupin III: its protagonist is the grandson of Arsène Lupin, a fictional caracter created by French novelist Maurice Leblanc.
Our Alsatian friend might be interested to take a look at this OVA, since I recall him having a famous quote of Napoleon on his signature and this episode deals with Napoleon's dictionary. Quote:

 Certainly the best example that old series used to promote good values. Btw, this story was originally written by Swiss author Johanna Spyri on the XIX century.
3000 Leagues in Search of Mother (known simply as "Marco" in some countries), based on "Heart", a novel written by Italian novelist Edmondo de Amicis:
The Adventures of Little El Cid, a story about the chilhood of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar much before being known as El Cid. Original opening:

A dog of Flanders, it's based on the novel of the same name, written by Marie Louise de la Ramée on the XIX century. It's very clear the Japanese had an obession with old European novels.

According to Street Fighter II: V, that's how a trip to Barcelona can be like if you don't know where you are going to. Not a tourist lure for sure.
