Yes, but the quality of the films decreased. I haven't seen a new Russian film which is not about the mafia.

Very few modern Russian films are worth watching too. They are mostly festival low budget movies. I happen to like some Icelandic movies, but they are very hard to get here.

Last year I saw that movie (Night Watch) everyone seemed to find so great. I was actually quite disappointed.

So was I. It's a very strange film. You should watch some Russian films from Soviet times. Look for Mosfilm.
