Maurice Ronet (real name Robinet) as an north-african "pied-noir" mob chief in "La Balance" (very, very bad film)...Gerard Depardieu as Maheu in "Germinal".Seeing him at a good 120 kilos shouting "we're starving to death!!!" in front of the gendarmes stills make me laugh today!

Americans or germans played by spaniards or italians in spaghetti western and ridicolous ww2 stories in the sixties.
I'm old enough to have seen them, but I couldn't tell any title....

Samuel Le Bihan (Breton/Norman) playing "Driss", an Arab criminal, in "La Mentale" (well, this is the kind of movies that you have to watch when you're insomniac...

Worst casting in my eyes.
lcfaraway3.jpg Tom Cruise and his amazingly annoying Irish accent. Great film, but I'm sure an established Irish actor could've taken the main lead. |

I always wondered how the castors work. Simply choosing someone with dark hair and a tan for any role not blond/blue eyed must be a bit... racist!, huh? And still, if they cast a bad guy too dark, or a good guy too light, then that's of course racism too...
And how about when they cast children? Have you seen any real bad examples, like mulatto children to European parents? ![]() |

Remember that Russell Crowe plays a Hispano-Roman general, and according to Arthur Kemp, there was a Polynesian invasion of Iberia which provoked the de-Nordisation of Spain and the beginning of its decline.
So actually, it was an excellent casting ![]()

Hollywood filmmakers tend to make crappy adaptions of classical novels and chances are that 1 of every 3 supporting characters and on occasion even main characters will not meet their description. I can imagine some politically correct film committee deciding "These character have to be negroes, so we don't upset certain groups"
But the real error is that most of these "films" are always inferior to whatever they are based upon. Fight club was the only time they got it right. |

Uber nordish but as mentioned by Galaico it all went down at the time of Maximus in 2000 AD.

Maximus' wife in gladiator is Central American.
I don't know her origins though.
