Eh... Schwarzenegger was supposed to star in this one... I remember reading about the production of this film back in 1991. right after the terminator 2 was released.

Ridley Scott is a fine visual director, but his films are often very shallow.

The Gladiator was great to see/experience, but if you look at it the second time, when the whole assault on your senses numbs, you see a movie with paper-thin characters and loads and loads of political correctness thrown in for no artistic reason.

btw. There's a probably Serbian dude called Velibor Topic who plays the role of Almaric.
