I like this type of movies too... but, I really wish just once to make a film which makes you actually care for the characters... y'know... I still feel bad when I watch Highlander, and the bad guy kills Sean Connery... and the bad guy was interesting too.
You get none of that in recent movies... they just start, show-off a lot of fancy editing, fancy sets, special effects, and a lot of formulaic storytelling, and the film ends, and there's nothing to remember that is truly legendary. That's how LOTR played for me. The first was great, you got to see the characters fleshed-out a bit, and then, in the second and third movie, you look at amazement of the techincal side of the film, but nothing memorable in an emotional sort of way. |
