I thought one of the more recent films Love Actually, was brilliant, if you like romantic comedies. It's not recent, but if you haven't seen Amelie, I recommend that also. I heard that the recent French make Les Choristes was brilliant but I haven't seen it myself. It wouldn't be on rentals yet though it's still playing in theatres.

![]() Seriously, I'll consider it, I'm sure my better half will enjoy it. ![]() I just read about Les Choristes on IMDB, seems interesting...maybe I can find it somewhere. Please, add more if you know of any, I trust your judgement. |

I checked out Amazon to see which of the movies I liked recently are released as DVDs and here's a short list:
- Sideways (one of the best of this season) - The Incredibles (animation, but not necessarily for children!) - Closer (not exactly "comedy" but has comedy elements) - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (very good!) - Garden State (another smart comedy) - Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason (not as good as the first one, but still good) - Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (not new, but you might have missed it) |

Love Actually is nothing like that and neither is Amelie if you haven't seen it yet. Quote:

I also suggest Netflix if it's in service in Canada. Much easier to browse and choose films compared to Blockbuster and the DVDs are delivered to your mailbox for free (the return, likewise). No late fees is a great thing too, especially for someone like me.

Yes!, I must see this, thanks for reminding me. ![]() - The Incredibles (animation, but not necessarily for children!) Saw it, pretty good - Closer (not exactly "comedy" but has comedy elements) Jude Law Natalie Portman and Julia Roberts, probably the most annoying cast in the history of film...I'll pass - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (very good!) Saw it, was alright - Garden State (another smart comedy) I'm sorry, but it bored the hell out me, turned it off halfway through - Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason (not as good as the first one, but still good) I can't stand that zellwegger girl - Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead (not new, but you might have missed it) Never heard of it, I'll look for it. |

Two Cameron Diaz movies are quite funny, me says, "Very Bad Things" (1998) and "There's Something About Mary" (1998).
Most Hollywood movies are not that funny though, especially in the last years...

"Mars Attacks" was quite funny too, at least after watching "Independence Day".
"Braindead", an early movie of Peter Jackson is not a real comedy and already older, but I liked it and had a laugh though it was sometimes quite disgusting too. Of course "As good as it gets" was nice to watch too and movies like "The Life of Brian" from the Monty Pythons are still classical, though you should know it. "American Psycho" and "The Bonfire of the Vanities" are examples of movies, though no real comedies, quite funny as well with their satirical view. Speaking about Tom Hanks, I liked the "Money Pit". Some of the funniest movies I can remember ad hoc from the last years are Austrian productions...(Dühringer, Hader, Dorfer and other cabaret artists...)

"Braindead" was really good! I really enjoyed it

From that kind of movie you can also see "Evil dead part 2" or classical "Plan 9 from Outerspace"From polish comedys I recommend you "Dzien Swira" - "The day of psycho" with Marek Kondrat. I'm sure you've already seen: Rejs, Mis, Seksmisja, Dziewczyny do wziecia, Czy jest tu panna na wydaniu.. |

I love dark humour stuff and some not-so-new-but-not-oldies are very good, to name a few:
- Fight Club - Snatch - Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - Phonebooth (not really a comedy but it made me laugh...)
