I was surprised to see this movie about Vikings. I didn't know there were any Soviet-Norwegian movies.
Here is imdb link: I na kamnyakh rastut derevya (1985) In Russian it's called "I na kamnyah rastut derevya" (Trees that grow on stones). In Norwegian it's called "Dragens fange" (Prisoner of the dragon). The cast consists both of Russian and Norwegian actors and the movie has authenthic feel about it. Not like today movies about Vikings with horned helmets and stuff. It's possible to download it from here: RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting or here: ed2k://|file|I.na.kamnjah.rastut.derevja.(DVDRip,XviD,Rus).by.HeDgEhOt.avi|1463682982|17325D9D0483458C060B2AAD9B719921|/ I don't know about subtitles. But anyone who knows Norwegian can at least understand speech of Norwegians. Some screenshots: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Oh, and speaking about soviet movies, I remember seeing a b/w film about a little siberian old man who guided russian expeditions to the far eastern Siberia. The movie was very entertaining. The little man saved a Russian captain from dying lost in the tundra. Do you recall what film is it?

Why are Russian movies dubbed with the original dialogs left (that can be heared)?

Thank you very much, Lucas! What a surprise, it's a Kurosawa's movie and was even awarded with an oscar for best foreign language movie!
