When it came out it was considered an half - porn movie by many, given the climate of then.
As young teens we were fantasizing about its sado-masochistic purported content, which was inevitably second or third hand gossip with a good dose of fantasy. The movie also sparked a brief spate of porn B-movies inspired by concentration camps, with sadistic young nazis having sex with unlikely beautiful inmates. Rather ridicolous movies, tosday probably cult movies for the fans of the genre. I have fuzzy recollections about this movie, i saw it soe years later, but I consider it an unlikely story, with some actors being quite out of part (a french count and a spanish dancer posing as SS veterans etc. realistic only for the ones who wanted to believe the movie was good). Dirk Bogarde made well his usual sly and skeleton-in the-closet character, I hated it and i haven't changed my opinion. Charlotte Rampling was a skimpy sex symbol and today says me still a lot, even being sixty-something. All in all a boring movie I found disturbing and motivated only by the need to prepare the way for the advent of the leftist Europe we live in, as they were all the movies made then.

I like Charlotte Rampling quite a bit but I've deliberately never seen this movie. I get enough Nazi fetish porn just by watching and reading the mainstream Anglosphere media.
