In southern Croatia (Dalmatia) it used to be celebrated very much, it is still in some local communities.

In my town it is a substitute for Santa Claus.

He is not "my" tenor singer. I'm Spanish, remember?

Both Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti were Italians. The other two in the second video (Plácido Domingo and Josep Carreras) are Spanish though.

And well, the Swedish version is beautiful just as well, even without tenors. The original song is in Neapolitan language.

By the way, has it never happened that the girl with the candles over her head has had her hair in flames???

Of course he is a tenor. But you said "your tenor singer" (which I understood as if I was Italian or as if Pavarotti was Spanish).

Yes, it is celebrated in Denmark. I'm not sure how the Danish Church marks it, though.

Maybe the Danes drink more than the Swedes, during these festivities?

By the way, St. Lucia is also the patron saint of Ophthalmologists.

I only know it from my school years. It is, now that I give it some thought, the only Christian holy day that is being marked in Danish public schools, apart from Christmas and Easter that are marked almost exclusively with non-Christian traditions (Julemanden/Santa Claus, egg-colouring, etc.). And the only Saint that is widely celebrated in Denmark, I think. Anyway, it's more of a Winter Solstice celebration than anything else, but still it is called Saint Lucia.
